I would like to introduce myself. My name is Pavel Skopový and I am a shooter and a shooting coach.
I first encountered shooting in 1981 in elementary school where I learned the basics of shooting from air guns, small caliber and centre fire pistols from my coach Václav Gärtner.
I went to a sports focused high school where I improved my shooting skills with my coaches Marie Kalná, Victor Andrlík and Václav Šašek. I only shot pistol disciplins and luckily thanks to my school got a chance to see how elite sport works.
After I graduated high school I was accepted to the engineering faculty of West-Bohemian University in Pilsen. During my studies there, I continued shooting competitively and in addition I started programing. I also started to be involved in the organisation process of some local shooting competitions like The Grand Prix of Liberation or Meeting of the Shooting Hopes. In 1993 I was asked to help with organising the European Shooting Championship in Brno. That was also the time I decided to create an easy and universal program for processing shooting competition results. In 1994 I started to test my program and a year later it was regularly used in competitions. Ever since then I’ve updated it countless of times in order to adjust it to new rules.
I served my military service in the army centre of Dukla Pilsen.
I also took part in the organisation process of the European Championship in Pilsen in 2000 for juniors and in 2003 for senior shooters.
Since finishing my studies I started wondering why nearly all coaches in the Czech Republic (apart from those from the professional sphere) train only the youth and why the older shooters seem to have no hope in the eyes of coaches, even though professional shooters’ careers end around their thirties. Not only do those shooters not have anyone to consult their needs, feelings and experiences regarding shooting with, but neither do they get any support from the Czech shooting federation. Unfortunately at that time there were no coaches who would spend their time with me or others facing this problem. That was also one of the reasons why I decided to attend the Faculty of physical education and sport on the Charles University in Prague. I finished it in 2015 with a coaching degree.
Even during my studies there I wanted to use my experience. That is why I started training two adult shooters who are very interested in competitive shooting and always work on improving themselves. After that I started working as a coach for the youth in the SKP Rapid Pilsen and thanks to that, since 2014 I’ve become the organizer of annual summer shooting camps for the youths and adults in Carlsbad and Pilsen.
I would like to continue and expand these camps with the help of Scopi Camp for which I can offer good quality shooting ranges and my own personal experience, which I would like to share with those who are eager to evolve and improve their shooting skills and results.
